“Once upon a flash of a sparkle, a moment was born.”
“Once there was a chair, an ugly scruffy beat-up chair.”
“Once there was a boy who was in love with the sky.”
“Once there was a nice horse named Jack who worked on a threshing machine.”
Come meet these delightful characters; find out about Batholomew, the friendly scarecrow, the old man with new eyes, and the chipmunk who went to sea. Visit their fun, whimsical, enchanting, worlds. Stories for children young and old.
These moving stories were originally printed in the Restoration newspaper at the request of Catherine Doherty, who later urged Jude to collect them together and have them published after she received many letters telling how people had been touched by the stories, or how they used the tales in storytelling, drama—for puppet shows with children, as well as in grown-up retreats!
Divided into three sections, the first contains a variety of tales of children, animals, songs, stars, trees and simple objects of everyday life. The second set of stories revolves around events recorded in the Bible. The third contains stories that are adapted by Jude Fischer from tales originally told by Elizabeth Rowena Marietta York, a crippled orphan girl in the late 1800s.
